YOUR TiED TOGETHER WiTH A SMiLE BUT YOUR COMiNG UNDONE jasper had been bothered all day. he woke up to get a prank call from someone to pretending to be marissa breaking up with him which at first he believed and got really depressed but then he figured out it was a prank when he heard laughter in the background. that made actullay made him mad. so he got up and ran downstairs yelling and shouting at his brothers. then he got in trouble for waking up everyone else so he got grounded so he couldn't go off to see marissa, which thats really all he wanted to do. only he got to go off for an interview with some magazine which he didn't want to do. apperantly there was a rumor going around that marissa was cheating on him. that made him angrier. so all together was very mad.
he then heard his phone ring. he looked down and saw it was his boss. "hello?" he asked into the phone. "WHERE ARE YOU!?! YOUR AN HOUR LATE!!" his boss yelled. he glanced at the clock. it was six. he shot up an ran over to his desk and grabbed his keys. "be there soon." he shut his phone and ran downstairs. he started to get yelled at by his mom but he ignored her. he ran outside and ran to his car. he opened up the door and then slammed the keys in and slammed the door shut and drove off to starbucks. he yelled to himself as he drove. "dude, starbucks has amazing coffee but not amazing workers." he muttered.
he parked in the parking lot and ran inside. "sorry i'm late. my mom wouldn't let me out of the house." he said to his boss as he walked by him. he then ordered him to work the cashier spot and then at 6:25 set up for open mic. that was tonight!? yes. he would see marissa... hopefully. he walked over to the cashier and then started taking orders. he took many orders before looking at the door and saw dakota from his school. he didn't really talk to her that much but she had the title as a maneater. he groaned and turned around hopefully he wouldn't see her. he then walked over to the stage and started setting things up for open-mic. he started mumbling things to himself still hoping she wouldn't see him. status;; done music;; tied together with a smile; taylor swift notes;; this sucks really baddddddd wearing;; to lazy [x credits;; xo_bri at cautionnn i think. if not its someone at caution (;

I DONT WANT THE WORLD TO SEE ME CAUSE I DON'T THINK THAT THEY'D UNDERSTAND - - - - - coffee was not a drink, it was an addiction, and she was nurturing her drug. she had settled herself in the corner of the store, looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows to see the darkening fall evening. the trees were just beginning to change colors and the splashes of vibrant reds and oranges brightened her dim mood, despite the fact that the sun was setting and giving an ominous feel to the leaves. what sad, sad leaves... she thought subconciously, and then started when she realized how depressing she was being. it wasn't that she was literally depressed, she was just having one of those days when everything went wrong and everybody made you annoyed. she just wanted to sit in the corner of the starbucks and drink her mocha in peace.
she glanced up as jasper walked in, looking flustered. she was going to say hello, but he didn't see her at first. but when she got up to throw away her cup she noticed that he glanced her way. she turned back towards her comfy stuffed chair and settled into it, grabbing her book from the table next to it. she absolutely loved john grisham books and was about to finish his new comedy playing for pizza. she flipped it open to where her bookmark was, scooching back in the chair so she was slouching. she crossed her left leg over her right and yawned once, her eyes losing the place on the page when they closed. darn it, she thought with a soft eye-roll, and scanned the words till she found her spot again.
suddenly, she heard the sound of mic's and speakers being jostled about, and looked over the top of her book to see jasper setting up. he looked annoyed, almost like he was hoping she wouldn't see him. her eyes fell back to the page, but they weren't reading anything. she hadn't ever had someone purposely avoid or try to make her not see them, and it actually hurt quite a bit. wow. that was a great improvement on my mood... she thought while making a soft fake smile with her mouth. dakota was not having a good day, and she just wanted to be able to curl up with her book and not have some elite guy blow her off without even saying anything. life sucked at the moment.
dakota heard him mumbling to himself, and she tilted her head to the size, throwing him a 'what are you doing?' glance. she smiled half-heartedly in his direction but was soon caught up again in the book. if he wanted to aknowledge her existance he would, and if he didn't want to then she wouldn't push it. for some reason she felt a strange respect for the guy, she didn't want to break his heart like she did the others. maybe it was because he wasn't a challenge - he was already taken and he loved his girlfriend. that made something inside of her twist up, because she wanted what they had so badly. she knew she was a heartbreaker after guys disappointed her, after they proved that they would never be loyal to her like jasper was to marissa.
dakota was fairly lost in thought when the starbucks manager came over to her, a big fake smile on his face. dakota had sang here a few weeks ago with her friends, and since then she was always asked to come back. it was a compliment, but it sure didn't feel like one. dee almost felt like she should be on the payroll. dakota! would you mind singing tonight? we really need someone to kick off the night, and you'd be perfect dear!" i knew it. she thought with a fake smile, too tired to come up with anything sarcastic or rude. she supposed suffering through one song and then getting back to her book wouldn't kill her, i mean, she did love to sing. and so, dakota nodded politely and asked him what song he wanted her to sing. well, tonight's supposed to be a more ballad-y type affair, with more love songs and romantic stuff. i was thinking you could start us off with breathe by faith hill? if you can, we'll be starting in five." dakota nodded softly and dismissed the guy by returning to her book, annoyed with the fact that tonight was the romantic one. figures... she thought with a grimace. she glanced over the top of her book at jasper, who was within earshot and most likely eavesdropping. he would probably think that was hilarious... the heartbreaker singing one of the most classic love songs. tonight though, she didn't really care. - - - - - WORDS: 978 w/ coding CREDITS: dyan starr. @ caution 2.0 for template // goo goo dolls for lyrics POST STATUS: fin TAGGED FOR: jasper

YOUR TiED TOGETHER WiTH A SMiLE BUT YOUR COMiNG UNDONE as much as jasper didn't want to he kept glancing over at dakota. he had no idea why.she was like a car crash. you didn't want to look but something kept forcing you to. he then dropped the mics making a loud noise. he threw his head back and let out a loud groan which caught the mic and it echoed through starbucks. he looked around and offered a fake smile. his eyes met with dakota's and he then tunred away and started setting up the amps for people who would play guitar like himself. he then wondered what song he would want to sing tonight. would it be only himself or would he want to be with his brothers? he shrugged it off and then watched his boss walk over to dakota.
his mind went to the flashback of her and her friends. he rolled his eyes remembering the joke. it was so stupid. she didn't really care about singing. it was all a joke. which ticked him off to no end. he really loved music and when he saw stupid people faking about their love for music he wanted to go over to them and slap them silly. he then scooted closer to hear what his boss was saying to her. he wanted her to sing?! A LOVE SONG!? that girl was a heartbreaker. she teased guys until they loved her and then BAM break up time. or at least thats what he heard... he didn't really know for a fake. he then heard breathe by faith hill. he chuckled to himself thinking of dakota singing the most romantic love song.
once his boss walked away he smiled to himself. "hey! yo!" he shouted. he got up and walked over to his boss. "i was wondering could me, and maybe my brothers sing tonight?" he asked. "depends" his boss said. "what song? it has to be romantic and i know your band... all you all sing about is not having sex till marraige." he glared at his boss. why did he always get made fun of because of that choice he made to god. he rolled his eyes and turned around and sat back down on the stage muttering cuss words to himself. he then got up and walked over to dakota.
"i heard you singing tonight?" he asked. "a love song to." he said. "its like one of the most romantic songs i've ever heard." he said. "and do you even sing?" he asked. "i mean i would never get the vibe from you that you would... well, sing." he said shrugging. he then started to study dokata. he had never really looked at her. she was really pretty. prettier then he thought. if you really looked at her you wouldn't think maneater you would think, sweetheart. or at least thats what jasper would of thought if the stupid titles didn't go around baywood... status;; done music;; the tvv notes;; better? wearing;; to lazy [x credits;; xo_bri at cautionnn i think. if not its someone at caution (;

WHEN EVERYTHING'S MADE TO BE BROKEN I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW WHO I AM - - - - - dakota watched over the top of her book as jasper talked to the manager. she didn't really like the fact that the guy made fun of jasper's religion or ideas, since dakota shared the same faith. of course, no one would ever be able to tell she was a christian, and that was another reason why she wasn't in a good mood today. this morning it felt like the lord was talking to her about her actions and ways, and dakota really didn't want to hear it- but she knew she needed to. her spiritual struggle was sucking the energy out of her today, and even the recent coffee did little to pump up her energy.
"i heard you singing tonight? a love song?" dakota had watched him walk over with little interest, knowing he would probably just make fun of her for singing a love song with her reputation. she looked up from her book and met his eyes, surprised at how handsome they were. deep chocolatey brown, very pretty... its like one of the most romantic songs i've ever heard." dakota resisted the urge to roll her eyes or start crying. she knew that it was coming, the remark about how she was the last person who should be singing a song like that. her eyes became cloudy from the almost-tears and she blinked a few times pretending it was just something in her eye. she had gotten the almost waterworks under control when he spoke again, and she was wondering if she should even be in public in her fragile state. really, this was getting ridiculous. "and do you even sing? i mean i would never get the vibe from you that you would... well, sing." dakota felt a rise of anger that he would automatically categorize her as something, but then realized she did the same thing to other people that didn't even give off as intense a vibe as she did. she lowered her gaze to her book and then lifted it to meet his again, forcing a weak smile to lighten the mood. "i guess you'll have to see for yourself." her accent made it sound light and innocent, but it was also a subtle challenge. she knew that he played guitar, and wondered if he would be playing for her backround music or if it was going to be a regular music out of speakers. she hoped it would be him or at least someone live, it was so much of a better experience when it wasn't out of speakers.
the manager walked up to the two of them, his gaze excited. "ready dakota? oh, and can you play with her jasper? we can't find the track for 'breathe' and i know you know the chords." his tone was like he was talking to children, and dakota rolled her eyes when the guy turned away.
she looked up at jasper as she was sitting up from her slouch, her tone mocking the manager who was now out of earshot. "ready jasper? i know you know the chords!" she broke into a real grin and stood up, straightening her shirt and fixing her scarf while she walked over to the stage. she glanced over at the crowd which was filling the store rather rapidly. she had seen it busier though, and crowds never bothered her. she hoped jasper didn't mind crowds either, the last thing she needed was a horrible performance and booing. that might send her over the delicate edge she was dancing on, into horrible embarrassing tears. get a grip. you're ridiculous. she cleared her throat as she stepped onto the stage, walking up to the mike and gripping it with both hands. she looked over her shoulder to see if jasper was getting set up, waiting for him. - - - - - WORDS: 817 w/ coding CREDITS: dyan starr. @ caution 2.0 for template // goo goo dolls for lyrics POST STATUS: finished TAGGED FOR: jasper

YOUR TiED TOGETHER WiTH A SMiLE BUT YOUR COMiNG UNDONE he sat there watching her intently waiting for her to respond. then he saw her eyes start to water. he bit his lower lip as his stomach dropped. yeah. guilt had hit him. he didn't mean to make her feel bad. he just... was stating what the thought. then he saw her blink. wait was it something in her eye? or was it just a cover up. he shook his head. no matter what the still felt bad for saying something so mean. he shouldn't give someone a title because of well... there title. i mean it was just a cover. never judge a book my its cover. open it and read it, it might turn out amazing. he sighed. thats what the whole school was made out of though. that really needed to change.
he then watched her look up to him and smile. he offered the ends of his lips up and then right back down not in the mood to smile. i guess you'll have to see for yourself. he then nodded. "i guess so." he then gave a smile to show her that he really didn't mean to be mean. he then looked out on the stage. hopefully he wouldn't have to play AGAIN. he always had to play his guitar every time there was an open mic. his boss couldn't 'find the track'. he rolled his eyes at his thoughts and then glanced over at his manager who was reading a magazine. yeah he was really working. he frowned and shot a glare at him and then turned around and softened his gaze upon dakota.
then his manager walked over all excited. of course it was all fake. he hated his job, he hated his workers, most of all jasper. he then watched him talk to dakota. then of course the words came. oh, and can you play with her jasper? we can't find the track for 'breathe' and i know you know the chords he REALLY wanted to say no but then of course something would go wrong. whatever. he then noticed he was talking to them like children. he smirked and turned to his manager. he cleared his voice and started to speak. "YEAH I'M SO EXCITED TO PLAY!" he said in a childish tone. the manager turned around and walked off.
he looked down at dakota and grinned as she mocked him. he then watched her fix her outfit and walk up onto the stage. he then took a quick look to see starbucks filling up really quickly. he then walked on stage and set up getitng his guitar out and tuning it. he strummed the strings and then once it was perfectly tuned he looked at dakota and he nodded. he got up and placed his guitar on the chair and walked up to the mic. "aite. its open mic night and our opening act is miss dakota cruise and she is singing breathe by faith hill." he then turned back around and started to play the strings.
he then looked up at dakota and she opened her mouth to sing. he was amazed by her voice. guess he was wrong about her not singing.
I can feel the magic floating in the air Being with you gets me that way I watch the sunlight dance across your face and I've Never been this swept away
All my thoughts just seem to settle on the breeze When I'm lying wrapped up in your arms The whole world just fades away The only thing I hear Is the beating of your heart
'Cause I can feel you breathe It's washing over me Suddenly I'm melting into you There's nothing left to prove Baby all we need is just to be Caught up in the touch The slow and steady rush Baby, isn't that the way that love's supposed to be I can feel you breathe Just breathe

ALL I CAN TASTE IS THIS MOMENT AND ALL I CAN BREATHE IS YOUR LIFE - - - - - dakota filled her lungs with a deep breath as she waited for jasper to begin the opening chords. she was getting in the singing mindset, where all she felt was the music and all she needed to feel was the words. her hands reached up to cradle the mic with both hands, and she took a step closer to it. her head bobbed softly with the barely there beat of the ballad, and she closed her eyes to the bright lights that were turned on her as she opened her mouth.
she sang the first few verses and the chorus well, but she could tell that her heart just wasn't in it tonight. her eyes had opened and were lighting about the dark crowd, searching for any familiar face. she didn't really expect anyone she knew to be there, so she wasn't surprised or disappointed when she saw no one. a few teenage guys raised their eyebrows and nodded, giving her thumbsup and a catcall, but dakota ignored them. she listened in silence during the guitar solo, surprised at how well of a player jasper was. she had heard around school that he was a great musician, but he really was something. when she heard her re-entrance was coming up she took another lung-filling breath, parting her lips at the last second.
"in a way i know my heart is waking up, as all the walls come tumbling down," dakota's gaze felt to the floor and she cradled the mic tighter, refusing to let her thoughts wander down the path that the lyrics were leading her. why did she have to be all deep and thoughtful now when she was singing? why today? she was happy with her life, wasn't she? dakota blinked slowly as she continued singing, refusing to ruin the performance just because she had a problem with the lyrics; a problem of not wanted to accept what they were saying to her. "...closer than i've ever felt before, and i know and you know, there's no need for words right now..." her soaring voice lifted into the chorus, and she didn't leave much thought on the little verse episode. she just hoped no one caught the moment's hesitation between the lines of the verse.
dakota and jasper finished off the song, ending neatly and bowing to the loud applause. she walked numbly off the stage, smiling weakly but sincerely at jasper as they got off together. the crowd had turned it's attention to the next act, a group of soccer mom types who were going to sing some obscure 80's song. dakota walked around the back of the crowd to the now-dark and shadowy spot where she had been sitting, hoping jasper would walk with her. she kinda wanted to talk with him, just to feel him out as a person. she had heard he was a goody-goody and a boring but fun at the same time kind of guy, and wanted to see for herself. maybe having a guy friend who wasn't a love intrest at all would be good for her, but she didn't know if he thought she was worth the time to get to know. it was all very confusing, and by the time they had meandered back to her chair she was thoroughly confused with herself. she sat down with a plop and could hardly make him out in the shadows, hoping he would take a seat in the chair that was sitting perpendicular to hers against the two walls. the corner was very dark, and she tucked her legs up under her and blinked a few times to keep herself alert. she was really tired, and the dim lighting was making her sleepy despite the performance a few seconds before.
the sound of the soccer moms almost drowned out her voice, but she thought he heard her anyways. "you're a really talented guitar player. thanks..." her voice trailed off, letting the music take over again. it hurt her ears, but she wouldn't complain. props to the preppy moms for even getting up in the first place when they sounded that horrible. it took guts to do something like that... - - - - - WORDS: 875 w/ coding CREDITS: dyan starr. @ caution 2.0 for template // goo goo dolls for lyrics POST STATUS: finished TAGGED FOR: jasper
