It was free period, and Becca was bored, bored, bored. But in her world, boredom was not allowed, and only mildly tolerated for very short periods of time. She knew this school like the back of her hand because of all the times she had gone exploring, finding back corridors, janitors closets, staff rooms, and much more. Most of the time, she stuck to the basics, but occasionally would find herself off the edge of the map, or at the very least someplace locked or otherwise forbidden to her. Challenges were always fun, and there weren't many places that a thin, five-foot girl couldn't get into.
It was during one of those forays that Becca had first discovered the way to get on the roof--one of the school secrets, very few students actually knew how to get there, basically guaranteeing that if you wanted alone time, you could get it here. Exiting the shaft that led to the roof, Becca popped out into the bright, mid-afternoon light. It was a bit chilly, but nothing too surprising considering that it was New York.
In one hand, she lightly clutched her journal, the whole reason she'd decided to come here in the first place. Pulling out a pen, she sank into one of the many available chairs and started to doodle. However, it was quickly obvious that sketching wasn't going to cut it, it was waaay too calm an activity for the energy coursing through her veins at the moment.
Walking to the side of the roof facing the courtyard, Rebecca contemplated the ground and the students milling around there. A grin flashed across her face as a thought occurred to her. Tossing the journal aloft, she watched as it started to fall hard and fast towards the ground. About mid-plummet, a boy stepped out below, at the exact wrong moment, and got smacked with it, just as she called "Watch out!" Half-apologetic, half-amused, she watched as he picked up the slim volume that was her journal. "Sorry 'bout that! I'll be right down!" she called.
